Fringed Skirt…..

Hello guys,

I hope everyone who celebrates the 4th of July had a lovely day yesterday. This is my first 4th in NYC and I spent it in doors : (. I am new to New York and I should be more adventurous I know and I will be as soon as I make more friends I believe (that is what people tell me). Are they wrong? You tell me.

Today’s’ project is a fringe skirt and I am truly excited about this one as I have always wanted something with a fringe on it, not sure why I never made one. It is an exciting attire or accessory to have with or on your outfit.

OKAY! Lets get started………..

What You Will Need:

  • Fabric
  • Lining (Optional)
  • Scissors
  • Chalk/Fabric marker
  • Measuring tape
  • A Zipper
  • Sewing Machine

DIY Oversize Clutch

Most times you do your best to buy just enough fabric for whatever project you want to create, but most times buying more than you need is the safest thing to do as you never know what might go wrong especially after you have already cut out your patterns.

So now you have all this extra fabric and you are not sure what to do with it right? Well here is a creative way to use it by making a Clutch.

What you will need:DSC_0120

Triangle Bralette Top (For the love of Summer)

Summer has fully arrived now (yaay or nay its here to stay for a while) and temperature’s in the 90’s are not so fun especially if you are out and about. So this has been of interest to me for the longest time now. A bralette that is custom made for me and my body type that I can comfortably wear. I have attached a pattern in the pattern section of the blog so you can try to make yours it is to scale so it can be printed out on an 8″ x 11″/A4 paper size. Now I spent my Saturday trying this out till I got what I thought was the best fit so I played around with the measurements a bit.

Things you’ll need:

  • Fabric
  • Separating Zipper
  • Sewing Machine (& Thread ofcourse)
  • Sewing pins

DIY Upcycled Shirt-Dress

This is my first post, so welcome to Sophies’ Closet DIY’s.

This post is on upcycling a shirt dress I got last year I believe. Now, lets pause for a bit and acknowledge AliExpress and how great of a website it is. Although I must say, there are always those stores with not so great products, so endeavor to read the feedback from previous customers with REAL pictures to show, but over-all it is a great website especially if you are not trying to break the bank.

What you need…………..

  1. Any Shirt-dress
  2. Liquid Stitch
  3. African fabric “Ankara” (with a design you like)
